About Us

The Walla Walla Alliance for the Homeless is an incorporated 501(c)(3) dedicated to identifying and addressing the unmet needs of homeless people in Walla Walla. With a board of directors, an active steering committee and a number of sub-committees, the Alliance, formed in July of 2015, has ‘hit the ground running’ in our community.

As nearly everyone in our community is aware, there are many unmet needs of homeless persons in Walla Walla and Walla Walla County. Too many individuals and some families have no safe, legal place to sleep at night, to keep their belongings, shower, do laundry, prepare food, receive mail and perform other everyday tasks. The lack of such facilities causes undue suffering on the part of the homeless , as well as a variety of problems for our community.

The Alliance is dedicated to working, by itself and along with others, to relieve this suffering and to further the well-being of the community as a whole.

A group of local supporters formed an LLC which purchased property at 708 W. Pine. The Alliance is leasing the property for $1/year for 5 years with an option to extend the lease or buy the property. This property will become Madison Park, a tiny home community, that is the flagship project of the Alliance.

The second major project of the Alliance is to provide day center services, including mailboxes, showers, restrooms, cell phone charging, laundry and other services to the homeless population of Walla Walla. Until these activities can be coordinated in a single location, the Alliance is working with other agencies and organizations in our community to develop dispersed delivery of these needed services. In October, the Alliance made available the first block of mailboxes for the homeless. We have seen a strong response to this offering  and are working toward expanding services as quickly as possible.
